WORD OF POWER MINISTRIES

Life and Ministry of Vince David

It all began on December 20, 1980, when Rev. Vince David was born from above at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Batticaloa, in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. After returning from the United Kingdom with his wife in December 1980, he was invited to the Anglican Church because his wife was Anglican.

As a devout Roman Catholic who had faced disappointment in the United Kingdom, he had initially resolved not to attend any prayer meetings or church services upon his return to Sri Lanka.

Despite this intention, once he was back on Sri Lankan soil, a wave of tenderness overcame him, and he attended a prayer meeting that changed the course of his life. For three consecutive Friday prayer meetings, Mrs. Jothi Arulpragasam — the wife of the Anglican Church Pastor, Father Bala — called out Rev. Vince's name during the altar call, but he remained headstrong and ignored the invitation.

However, on January 30, 1980, something changed. Hearing her endearing voice this time, Rev. Vince went forward out of a sense of obligation. When Mrs. Jothi Arulpragasam laid hands on him, it became the catalyst for a whole new chapter in his life.
Mrs. Jothi Arulpragasam prophesied over him, saying, “You are called like Paul.”
From that day onwards, his eyes were opened to see Elohim’s magnificence in creation. His hardened heart became soft, and his thirst for the Word of Elohim grew intense.

Very soon, trials began at home. His mother noticed his intense focus on the Bible and grew anxious about his family’s future, especially since he had a five-year-old daughter at the time. His father-in-law even misquoted a Bible verse to try to divert him from his calling. Furthermore, his job search was unsuccessful despite being overqualified, as Elohim’s purpose remained constant in Rev. Vince’s life.

Rev. Vince was invited to India by his brother, Balu Mahendran, a prominent Indian film director. During his visit, Rev. Vince attended a seven-day pastors' seminar hosted by Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran, where his divine calling was powerfully confirmed.
Dr. D.G.S looked at Rev. Vince and said, “Brother, you cannot turn back.”
After returning to Sri Lanka, out of nowhere, a prominent temple priest arrived with his two daughters and grandchildren, seeking spiritual help. Being a novice, Rev. Vince did not know how to help them, so he simply asked them to sit down in front of him.

He immediately pulled out his Bible and began reading from the first verse of the Book of John: “In the beginning was the Word.” As soon as he uttered the word “Word,” he heard a loud bang. Looking up, he saw that the temple priest, who had been sitting cross-legged on the floor, had fallen face-first, striking his forehead on the ground as froth seeped from his mouth.

Not knowing what else to do, Rev. Vince continued reading the next phrase: “And the Word was with Elohim.” Upon hearing this phrase from the infallible Word of Elohim, the priest's daughters also began to convulse. Strengthened by the power of the Word, Rev. Vince boldly finished the sentence: “And the Word was Elohim.” At that exact moment, the demons inside the temple priest's grandchildren manifested, and they began to convulse as well.

On March 18, 1983, the first Sunday gathering commenced with just five people. Gradually, people began to travel from as far away as Akkaraipattu, and from the North and Central provinces of Sri Lanka, mostly seeking relief from demonic oppression.

Before long, a civil war broke out in Sri Lanka. During this tumultuous time, more and more people in the region were drawn to hear the truth of the Word of Elohim. Morning prayers were held from Monday to Saturday, starting as early as 5:00 a.m., and many continued to come for deliverance from demonic oppression. Due to the escalating war crisis, the ministry was forced to push the prayer times back to 5:30 a.m., and later to 6:00 a.m. Nevertheless, the prayer meetings continued with immense power and dedication.
As the civil war intensified, Rev. Vince was forced to leave the country because his wife and daughter feared the dangers of that period. They migrated to New Zealand, but his ongoing passion for the ministry in Sri Lanka and Elohim’s call on his life left his heart deeply grieved. On the other hand, many doors for the Gospel of the Kingdom were opened for Rev. Vince in Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Singapore, Holland and New Zealand, where he taught the Word of Elohim and ministered deliverance to the people who heard the Word.

In 1998 Rev. Vince and his wife, Charmaine went to Canada. During their stay in Canada, Rev. Vince taught the Word of Elohim to a congregation that sought his guidance because they were without a shepherd. He ended up ministering to the people in Canada for ten years, as the war was still ongoing and his family was unwilling to return to Sri Lanka.

However, the church in Batticaloa continued to grow, and many elders were appointed under the guidance of the Almighty to shepherd them. Every Sunday, Rev. Vince would teach the Word of Elohim to the congregation in Sri Lanka over the phone. This continued until 2008 when Rev. Vince heart was stirred even more for the sheep in his own country. Finally, in 2008, he decided to return to the place where he first started and where he was first called, eager to continue the work of the ministry. Even though, this time, he was leaving his wife, daughter, and grandson behind in Canada.

Since then, by the grace of Almighty Elohim, Rev. Vince has been preaching and teaching the Word of the Kingdom of God in Sri Lanka. Driven by a deep desire to feed the spiritually hungry, he was inspired to publish a range of books, including Let the Redeemed Say So (1993), Kingdom Book - Volumes 1 & 2 (2017), God Head (2022) and The Trinity Delusion (2023).

Through the power of modern technology, his teachings and deliverance ministries are now broadcast online and publicly viewed on YouTube. Because of the vast distances, many people who attended the physical gatherings in the past now continue to watch his ministry online via these YouTube broadcasts, with local elders appointed to guide each respective group.
